it's march 17, 2012. it's been 6 months since i moved to london last september 17, and what a 6 months it has been...!

i find that im closer to finding my mission statement, life's mission statement. at 28, i would say money really isn't the most important thing in this world. I have made enough to feel comfortable about myself, and more won't really make me happier. It is with great fortune that i am able to think clearly what i should be doing in my job, instead of just being focused of making more money.

what do i value now ? i really put great value in friendships. family life still isn't a big deal for me, yes i miss my parents and all but now i just want to live my independent life. that is what was lacking back home, when i was still staying with them. i am forced to make choices daily. how i respond to pressure, how i interact with people, how i try to keep my head up and my feet aground. it does seem that instead of chasing for achievement, i've moulded into a person who just wants to live well, live happily, live healthily, and relationships with people matter most. this contrasts greatly from the dude who graduated from university with very strong ambition - did society/workplace change my thoughts? yes it did - cause it does not feel like the right thing to do anymore - it is tiring, laborious, and does not feel worth chasing for... because i still have no clue what i am after.

i knew right from entering university, all i wanted to do was to get a good job to pay up all my university debts / ensure financial security for the family / and experience what it must be like middle income status (able to buy a car, fancy watches, nice holidays to faraway places, toys). now that i have done all that, the need for achievement has declined...

in logical terms, i must look elsewhere to motivate myself, otherwise i will be staying stagnant. this is where moving to london seems like the best choice i made.

right now, i am mentoring a new joiner in my department. this is something new to me, and i am trying to lead by example and provide all the tools that he needs to do well, as when i started, this was somewhat lacking... i feel the need and desire to hand that knowledge down. this is what motivates me now in my job.

thankfully, i've also found some good friends that makes life settling in the city easier.

all is well at 28 and hope for many more good year to come :)
